January 2009 - Hi-Tech Electronic Manufacturing recertified for AS9100B and ISO 9001:2000
HiTEM underwent three days of intense ISO 9001: 2000 and AS9100 B recertification and passed. TÜV America INC. Management Service Division, accredited under the aerospace Registrar Management Program, assessed HiTEM in accordance with the requirements of AS9104A. HiTEM continues to provide a controlled and highly capable quality management system.

February 2008 - HiTEM offers Flying Probe to customers
HiTEM offers Flying Probe (Fixtureless) test as the ideal low cost solution for electrically verifying prototypes prior to your design verification process, improves time-to-market, all while increasing quality levels.
With the rapidly increasing complexity of assemblies, electrical verification at the prototype level has become a necessity to meet time-to-market requirements. Flying Probe (or Fixtureless) test allows your engineers to focus their efforts on prototype design verification, instead of debugging process issues.
Flying Probe test development is low cost and very fast, making it an ideal tool for prototype verification. There is no fixture to purchase, eliminating costly tooling procurement and allowing the ultimate in flexibility to incorporate design changes. Often used in a combinational strategy with AXI or AOI, Flying Probe allows detection and repair of electrical defects such as wrong parts, reversed parts, missing parts, solder opens, and solder bridges before they are in your engineer’s hands.
2007- Hi-Tech Electronic Manufacturing Inc. wins Nunn-Perry Award
SAN DIEGO (March 28, 2007) — Hi-Tech Electronic Manufacturing Inc. (HiTEM) was honored with the Department of Defense’s prestigious Nunn-Perry Award, recognizing HiTEM’s accomplishments and teamwork with Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) in the Defense Department’s Mentor-Protégé Program.
Named for former U.S. Sen. Sam Nunn and former Defense Secretary William Perry, the Nunn-Perry Award is presented annually for outstanding achievements by teams of companies that assist smaller companies in a mentor-protégé partnership.
Northrop Grumman and other prime contractors, or mentors, assist and promote their protégés in obtaining defense-related contracts. The mentor is instrumental in providing planning resources and guidance for developing business and technical capabilities to help diversify a smaller company’s customer base. The protégé, in return, provides a reliable supplier source for its mentor and other defense contractors.
HiTEM has become a key supplier of printed circuit boards for Northrop Grumman’s software-defined radio products for advanced fighter avionics systems.
The award was presented at the 2007 Mentor-Protégé Conference on March 7 in Temecula, Calif. The team of HiTEM and Northrop Grumman was one of eight teams honored nationwide.
HiTEM’s business accomplishments also were acknowledged by the office of Congressman Brian Bilbray, San Diego County Supervisor Ron Roberts and the office of San Diego City Councilman Brian Maienschein at a March 10, 2008 luncheon.
Founded in May 1997, HiTem is located in the Sorrento Valley area of San Diego. HiTEM specializes in circuit-card and system box-build assemblies for original equipment manufactures (OEMs) in aerospace, military/defense and specialized commercial markets. HiTEM is an SDB and is ISO 9001:2000- and AS9100 B-certified.
2006 - HiTEM wins the 2006 Corporate World Class Team Small Business Development Award
Northrop Grumman Corporation has selected Hi-Tech Electronic Manufacturing, Inc. to receive the 2006 Corporate World Class Team Small Business Development Award. This award is given to those suppliers who have consistently demonstrated outstanding achievements and support of Northrop Grumman programs.
2006 - Northrop Grumman Awards HiTEM Small Business Supplier of the Year
On April 4, 2006, Hi-Tech Electronic Manufacturing, Inc. (HiTEM) was named Northrop Grumman Space Technologies, Radio Systems sector, Small Business Supplier of the Year for 2006.
Text of the announcement from Northrop Grumman noted, “HiTEM continues to delight the industry with superior manufacturing capabilities and an extraordinary leadership team. In recognition of HiTEM’s relentless pursuit to exceed the expectations of their customers, Radio Systems will honor HiTEM as their Small Business Subcontractor of the Year 2006” at the U.S. Small Business Administration / San Diego Chamber of Commerce Small Business Week Awards Banquet.
HiTEM became a primary supplier of printed circuit boards for Northrop Grumman Space Technology, Radio Systems sector from their association with the Mentor-Protégé Program. The Mentor-Protégé Program was initiated to encourage prime contractors to assist their small business suppliers increase exposure to federal subcontracts and establish long-term relationships with prime contractors.
Northrop has been instrumental in working with HiTEM to enhance its technical capabilities, business infrastructure and business development. Key tasks have include: developing lean product flow and facility planning; configuration management processes, lead-free manufacturing strategies; diminishing manufacturing sources parts tracking, manufacturing process standards and documentation, and inventory management processes.
Many mentor firms, such as Northrop Grumman, have made the program an integral part of their sourcing plans, while the protégé firms have used their involvement in the program to develop much needed business and technical capabilities to diversify their customer base.
